Picea pungens 'Glauca Globosa'
The Globe Blue Spruce is a
nice miniature plant with a good globosa habit. It is also very compact
and dense with great blue coloration. It originated in Boskoop, Holland
in the nursery of A. Kluis as a seedling. It was introduced in 1955 and has
since become extremely popular and is now one of our best selling Colorado
Blue Spruces. It is an excellent selection for the small garden since it
will get to about 2.5' high and wide in ten years. This particular one (shown above) is over 40 years old and is 6' high and 8' wide. It is hardy to zone 2 and
prefers full sun.
