Chamaecyparis obtusa 'Nana' A true miniature, growing less 1" per year!
Plants sold under this name are
often mislabeled and are really just Chamaecyparis obtusa 'Nana Gracilis',
which is a great plant also, but much faster growing (it will get to about 30" in 10 years).
This cute little plant grows very slowly to only about 20" high and
24" inches wide in 90 years. This great selection was introduced around
1860 by Dr. von Siebold. It has a nice flat-topped globular shape and
great dark-green color. It is hardy to zone 5 and requires no pruning. It
is a great addition to any landscape.
