A 'Sterling'Selection
Acer shirasawana 'Aureum' in spring!
This very rare selection is quite
slow growing and will someday mature at about 15 to 18 feet high. The broad palm-shaped
leaves are a beautiful yellow-green color in spring and summer. In the fall
it puts on a spectacular show. The leaves slowly turn from greenish-yellow to
yellow, move on to orange then finally to crimson red. This slow-growing, highly
desirable tree is hardy to zone 5 but does not like strong summer sun in the
southern states and could burn unless protected from the hot afternoon sun.
