Dwarf Alpine Willow

Zone 5
The dwarf alpine willow is a great selection for a groundcover willow. It is from Japan on the island of Hokkaido and grows in the higher elevations. It has attractive, long glossy green leaves and of course, catkins in spring. Most willows grow well in moist to even wet locations but the species that have hairy or tomentose leaves on both sides prefer drier locations. These dwarf alpine types thrive on drier sites and are best suited for rock gardens or patio gardens, which more closely resemble their natural sites.

Please prune the dwarf Blue Spruce to return to the top.
