The Climbing Hydrangea is a great selection that has rounded white flowers, small glossy leaves and beautiful exfoliating bark. It will grow in either sun or shade and prefers moist but well drained soil. It came from Asia around 1878.

ANNABELL’ This one has large white flowers on sturdy stems and it blooms about one week later than most of the other Hygreangea. The leaves are a medium green and it can attain 5x5’ with a rounded form.

ALL SUMMER BEAUTY’ Here is a large, vivid blue mophead type flower that often reblooms. It has dark green leaves and will develop into a 4x4’ medium sized shrub. Prefers light shade.

BLUE WAVE’ Is one of the most popular forms in England and the US today. It will grow to a large shrub about 7’ high and wide. It features the outer bloom florets with a super blue color. ‘Blue Wave’ has been around since 1904.

LENARTH WHITE’ This low growing, only 2-3’ high, lacecap selection has a nice white flower. The leaf color is more chartreuse-yellow than the traditional medium green of most of the H. macrophyla. It will tolerate either full sun or partial shade and is excellent for shore plantings.

MASJA’ This semi-dwarf plant is making a big impact with its red mophead flowers and glossy dark green foliage. It will attain a height of 1 meter and a width of 1.5 meters and is a great selection for smaller or limited space gardens.

MATHILDA GUTGES’ A medium sized Hydrangea with medium sized blue-violet mophead flowers that appear frilled. It has been around since 1946 and is also selected for its nice fall color. H:W:4-6’

NIGRA’ Noteworthy for its striking black-stemmed new growth. Originally a Japanese selection, it has been around for quite a while. In 1895 it recieved a First Class Certificate from the prestigeous Royal Horticultural Society. It was introduced in the US by the National Arboretum in 1993. It has large globose mophead flowers with a dusty rose pink color and bright green leaves.

VARIEGATA’ Here is a beautiful lacecap with bluish flowers and medium green leaves with a nice attractive white variegation. It is an excellent choice to brighten that shady area of the garden.

PINK DIAMOND’ Pink buds open to a huge white upright conical flower of 12 inches that turns to a rich pink. It has nice dark green leaves and will get to about 6’ high and wide. It was introduced from Belgium and has grown to be a favorite very quickly.

The species of quercifolia or Oakleaf Hydrangea was selected in 1983 by ONLA

SIKES DWARF’ An excellent selection for todays smaller landscapes since it only grows to 3-4’. The foliage is closely spaced with the shape resembling an oak leaf and turns a fantastic red-purple in the fall. The flowers are upright pyramidal clusters of white.

BLUE BIRD’ Is a stunning lacecap that blooms throughout the summer. It starts out creamy pink then turns deep blue. Also it offers excellent copper-red fall foliage on leaves that are more narrow than the macrophylla types. It received the Royal Horticultural Society Award of Merit in 1960.
