Dove Tree
| Intermediate |
Broad-Upright |
Zone 6 |
This tree with its nearly Linden-like appearance is from western China. It is not uncommon in European gardens but it is still quite rare in the US. The leaves are glossy and glabrous above and the underside is densely gray tomentose turning a nice yellow in the fall. It is best known for the large showy 7-inch white flowers that reminds one of a tree full of doves while in flower in May. It will grow to about 30-40 feet tall and is underused in today's landscape.
