Leylandi Leyland Cypress
The plant is a natural hybrid between Cupressus macrocarpa and
Chamaecyparis nootkatensis. It is a tall tree to about 30 meters
high, with leaves close in size, form, and arrangement to Chamaecyparis
nootkatensis, but the branches are finer.
'CASTWELLAN GOLD' The Golden Leyland Cypress. It is a densely
branched, fast growing upright that has the new growth a nice yellow.
Very strong grower but substantially slower than x C. leylandi.
A chance seedling found in the Castwellan Forest Park, England, and widely
propagated after 1970. Prefers full sun. Makes a very nice fast screen or windbreak.
'SILVER DUST' A fast growing plant with bluish-gray-green foliage
and a consistent white variegation throughout. Makes a fantastic screen or
specimen plant.
